Zachodniopomorski Folk High School in Mierzyn, Bildungshaus am Meer / Lubmin, the Naval Academy in Gdynia,
the Nationwide Network of Folk High Schools, and the University of Szczecin cordially invite you to the International Conference “The Folk High School as a School of Conscious Citizenship on the Polish-German Border”,
which will be held on October 25–26 at the seat of the Marshal’s Office of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Szczecin.
The conference commemorates the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Folk High School in Szyce near Kraków –
the first secular institution of this kind in Poland – and the ideas of Ignacy Solarz, an outstanding pedagogue and educator.
We warmly invite theorists, researchers, and practitioners of folk high schools from Poland and abroad to exchange experiences and share good practices.
The event will be enriched by presentations from experts in civic education,
a session with the veterans of Polish folk high schools, and the exhibition:
“The Pedagogical Ideas of Ignacy Solarz.”
The conference is held under the patronage of the Academic Andragogical Society
and is co-financed under the Program for Supporting the Development of Folk High Schools 2020–2030.
